Course Description
This course title, “Credo, Cupido, Scio” is the Latin meaning of “I believe, I desire, I know.” “Credo” (I believe) refers to the central personal beliefs that drive one’s aspirations and conduct, which in turn impact desires. In this course, students take a deep and comprehensive look at their personal theologies. They explore ideas about the nature of God and humanity through the lenses of the formative factors of experience, revelation, culture, tradition, scripture and reason. Students will learn to think theologically about the great issues of life and will develop a personal statement to mark their current location in a life-long process of spiritual intellectual growth.Using the insights gained from exploring “credo,” students will consider “cupido,” (I desire). The examination of beliefs and desires will culminate in a statement of “scio” (I know). Students will be able to articulate how this credo could be implemented in the various aspects of their daily life.
